Interop Technologies SMSC4 Highest Throughput for SMS Centers
The SMSC 4 Series provides up to 36,000 message delivery attempts (MDAs) per second, setting a new industry standard and more than doubling the highest SMSC throughput announced to date. The technology achievement is important because SMS volume continues to increase, pushing technology limits for many wireless operators and causing blocked messages during peak periods. Gartner, Inc. forecasts 2.3 trillion messages will be sent across major markets worldwide in 2008, a 19.6 percent increase from the 2007 total of 1.9 trillion messages.
"This throughput level is an achievement for the industry and Interop
Technologies," said Will Hodgman, Executive Vice President of comScore.
"The number of Americans sending text messages grew 31 percent over the
past year, with 117 million using SMS in June. This technology is very
important and timely due to the surging demand for text messaging."
The Interop Technologies SMSC 4 Series combines innovative use
of SMS routers, clustering and load balancing technologies, and
intelligent route caching to provide extreme scalability and eliminate
the need for multiple SMSCs. Since fewer SMSC installations and related
technical personnel are required, operators can reduce costs. In
addition, operators can improve service for SMS customers. The
state-of-the-art, carrier-grade SMSC 4 Series provides the five-nines
(99.999 percent) reliability that operators require.
"The SMSC 4 Series is already helping network operators meet the current demands in messaging growth while providing a better customer experience" said Damian Sazama, Vice President of Marketing and Product Development for Interop Technologies. "This solution also will help simplify SMSC operation and reduce the total cost of ownership.
