T-Mobile Shows G1 Android Phone (Formerly HTC Dream)

T-Mobile today unveiled at a New York press conference the T-Mobile G1, running Android, the open source mobile phone software platform from Google. The phone formerly referred to as the HTC Dream will sell for $179 with a T-Mobile voice contract. Data plans are $25 per month for unlimited web and email access or $35 per month for unlimited web and messaging.

(Note: When you read the fine print the unlimited data plans are capped at 1Gigabyte.)

It will be available on October 22 all over the world. T-Mobile and Google teamed up with HTC to make the phone.  The screen slides open to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard. and has a convenient trackball for one-handed navigation.
