T-Mobile Shows G1 Android Phone (Formerly HTC Dream)

androdiphone.jpgT-Mobile today unveiled at a New York press conference the T-Mobile G1, running Android, the open source mobile phone software platform from Google. The phone formerly referred to as the HTC Dream will sell for $179 with a T-Mobile voice contract. Data plans are $25 per month for unlimited web and email access or $35 per month for unlimited web and messaging.

(Note: When you read the fine print the unlimited data plans are capped at 1Gigabyte.)

It will be available on October 22 all over the world. T-Mobile and Google teamed up with HTC to make the phone.  The screen slides open to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard. and has a convenient trackball for one-handed navigation.

 A full HTML internet browser with tap zoom functions.
 Built-in auto switching support for T-Mobile's 3G (HSDPA) network and Wi-Fi
  • In comes in white, brown and black.
  • One-click contextual search.
  • Ane-touch access to  Google apps-g Google Maps Street View, Gmail, YouTube and others.
