AT&T Buys Centennial Com for $944 Million
AT&T says that it will acquire regional carrier Centennial Communications for $944 Million in cash.
It will add 1.1 million customers and coverage in rural parts of the Midwest, Southeast and Gulf Coast and Puerto Rico. It also business wireline services in Puerto Rico. Centennial's 850 MHz spectrum will help improve the quality of service for subscribers in parts of Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Ohio and Texas.
The deal is awaiting regulation approval. It will not, however put AT&T in the top position now that Verizon has officially acquired Allte.
