Research in Motion has admitted that it has been difficult for them keep up with the strong demand for BlackBerry Storm smartphones and says that supplies will increase in the coming weeks.

"The response to the BlackBerry Storm launch with Verizon and Vodafone has been exceptional and demand for the devices is even stronger than we anticipated," RIM reported in a conference call.

RIM shipped about 6.7 million units, and much of the success can be attributed to the BlackBerry Bold and the BlackBerry Storm. They gave an update forecast for holiday sales, revenue in line with expectations and 2.6 million in new customer additions in the third quarter. RIM said it was entering the holiday season with "strong momentum."

In the meantime, each update of the BlackBerry Storm's firmware improves performance, making it an even better smartphone than before

CrackBerry once again as leaked a Storm firmware update 7.7.0.83 which they suggest you only do "at your own risk."  We don't suggest you use any leaked software unless you are prepared to backup your BlackBerry or lose data.  If you find the update process confusing, check an update clarification suggestions article we wrote a few weeks ago.
