CNET has named the Palm Pre the Best of Show for the Consumer Electronics Show 2009 and the People's Voice Award.

2006. Kent German in a video about the Palm Pre said "It will be great for work and having fun at the same time."
ABC tech contributor Becky Worley noted that the Palm Pre was designed with women in
mind. Because women with long nails can't use an iPhone, they can use the Palm Pre's slider keyboard. The Palm Pre also has a shiny surface to be used as mirror. She also like that there are not tangled cords because it can be used with a wireless
charger.

Not only will the new OS not support existing applications on the Palm, but the device itself will not be released until mid-2009, at best. The iPhone, already offering about 13,000 applications -- many of which are being downloaded by the millions, and many of which are free or priced under $4.99 -- will have again evovled by the time the new Palm OS reaches market.
I think it's great that Apple has stimulated so much competition with the iPhone...RIM, Palm, Google, HTC, etc. finally got moving in response to Apple's iconic smart phone. But unless and until there's a true competitor out there in terms of hardware, applications, and customer service, not much is going to change.
Even Microsoft has thrown in the towel, with CEO Steve Ballmer announcing at the CES that Microsoft has not plans to develop a Zune phone or to upgrade the current Zune beyond its present version.
You want to make millions? Do what so many millionaire adolescents have done: write an application for the iPhone/iPod Touch. There are so many millions of users out there, if you have a good idea, you can't go wrong.
