"That's Not Cool" Prevents Digital Dating Abuse and Textual Harassment
Verizon and the Advertising Council are offering a public service advertising campaign to help teens deal with "textual harassment," privacy issues and pic-pressure.
The new PSA's for Verizon
Wireless' Mobile web service, and Verizon FiOS Internet and Verizon
FiOS TV show "That's Not Cool. " It helps teens deal with digital dating abuse There's a teenager guy in a cell phone sending and receiving all kinds of text and then asks for something "Not Cool."
At the website, sock puppets and Barbie dolls discuss digital issues:
- My boyfriend texts me asking where I am all the time.
- My boyfriend wants pics.(without clothing of course.)
- A guy I'm seeing spies on social networking sites.
There are call out cards to send to friends who over-use their text priviledges.There a forums for discussion of issues such as these posts"
"Theres this girl from school she got my number and now she texts me everday and all her text say "watchya doiinn" It gets on my nerbes and if i dont answer she calls my cell phone. THEN MY HOUSE PHONe.If i dont answer that she'll just follow me around school the next day.SheS so annoying i dont wanna be mean to her but she'getting under me and my friends skin.What should i do?"
It looks like texting has become an addiction for some."Okay, i hate when people ask you you every 10 seconds are you bored I'm bored...what should i do....what are you doing..where are you. It's like get a life kid. When i get texts from those kind of people i usually don't even answer them. That's what I do, I recommend you do that. It's kind of mean. But it works great. :/""
