T-Mobile has announced the HTC Sensation 4G, the smartphone formerly known as the HTC Pyramid.  We called it the big sister to the HTC ThunderBolt because it has a dual-core processor and new sensational HTC Sense features.  HTC calls the HTC Sensation 4G a multimedia superphone.  You can see why in the video at the end of this article.

The rounded-edge aluminum unibody HTC Sensation 4G has a 4.3-inch qHD (960 x 540) touchscreen.  The HTC Sensation 4G is narrower than the HTC Thunderbolt with a 16:9 aspect ratio that works well for viewing movies.  The glass screen is concave Gorilla Glass so that it will not scratch.

HTC Sensation 4G specs include a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snnapdragon processor, 8-megapixel camera with 1080 video capture, 1 GB of internal storage, microSD slot, 768 MB of RAM, 1520 mAh battery,FM radio, GPS Wi-Fi Hi-Fi audio and Bluetooth.  For video viewing, it offers DLNA support and a micro-USB port that can be adapted to HDMI.  There is a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, which hopefully will support video conferencing.

The multimedia part of the sensation is the new HTC Watch, a video renting and buying service with progressive downloading to avoid waiting for download to view the video. If you buy the video you can watch it on up to 5 different devices. You can watch HD TV using an HDMI cable.

HTC Sense has these new features;

  • A customizable active lockscreen with window to and content that acts a customizable gateway to the most used features, like making a phone call, sending an email, taking a picture, social media updates and news.
  • Sharper graphics.
  • Vibrant animations and new widgets.
  • Cinematic  weather experience with imagery and audible weather effects.

 HTC Sensation 4G will be available from T-Mobile with a summer release date.
