Galaxy Nexus Tablet Primed to Beat Transformer Prime, Droid Xyboard or iPad?

Android Jelly BeanThe Pure Google experience will be coming to tablets, sometime next year.  Google's CEO Eric Schmidt said that Google will be backing a tablet in next sixth months "of the highest quality."

He did not give any details about the tablet or what company would make it.  The most probable makers would be either Samsung, the maker of the Galaxy Nexus or Google-owned Motorola.

So far there, has not been a strong competitor against iPad and a report in Italian contends that the new Google Nexus tablet will be an "iPad" contender.

The Nexus name is used on products that have cutting edge technology and software.  Google first releases the software and hardware.

There has been no announcement for a new tablet to be released with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. However, updates are expected for the quad-core Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime, Motorola Xoom and Droid Xyboard.

The cutting-edge quad-core Asus Transformer Prime was delayed with some preorders shipping this week while others have been cancelled and given credits.  It will be bleeding-edge until the next super-tablet is released. Today, Asus Tweeted, "Update: Pre-orders for the Transformer Prime starting to be fulfilled this week. Inventory set to reach normal levels in January."

If the Nexus Tab is slotted for six months, there may be a newer Android OS, Android Jelly Bean.  That far off it could be have more than a quad-core processor and possibly have a  hexa-core processor, now that's bleeding dge especially if it beats the iPad 3 to punch.

  1. If the android tablet is anything like the galaxy nexus phone, then I'll pass. Def not a game changer. I'm sticking w/ my asus transformer prime.

  2. I have to agree with John. If the Nexus Tab is anything like the Galaxy Nexus then I'll pass too.

Until Google steps up the build quality of the Nexus line they will always be second rate.

Why are Google and the OEM's so oblivious to this?

And while I'm on this rant what in the world is Moto and Verizon thinking pricing the Xyboard more expensive than an iPad and making people sign up for a 2 year contract? It just makes them look extremely stupid.

  3. You know whats extremely stupid? when people knock "build quality" on samsung products because apple makes "superior" quality products that cant take one bit of accidental punishment. Ive gone through a broken ipad2 screen and shattered iphone 4s screen from minor drops in less then 3 months. At least these "plasticky" samsung products show more "quality" when dropped unlike apple products. theres a video to prove it. Never buying a CHEAP apple product again!

  4. Pre-ordered the Prime, however, still have not received it yet. Might pull the plug on the entire order and wait and see what comes out in the near future. Asus dropped the ball on the release of the prime.
