The new iPad has heating issues.  It may not be Antennagate but it could be called Thermogeddon

The heat coming from the new iPad is meets Apple specifications even though it is 10-12 degrees hotter than the iPad 2.

The new iPad offers many features while operating well within Apple's thermal specifications.  If  the heat is a problem contact AppleCare, an Apple spokesman told a media outlet.

Consumer Reports found that the new iPad is as much as 12 degrees hotter than the iPad 2 but at its hottest, it felt warm but not especially uncomfortable.  Consumer Report measured a temperature of 116 degrees.

A Dutch tech site noticed a difference of about 10 degrees from the iPad 2 with a temperature of 92.48 F(28.3°C).

The two test sites were in cool climates.  It would be interesting to see what happens in the summer sun at the beach or in Las Vegas in the middle of the summer.

The heat could be caused by numerous factors the faster processor, the LTE chipset(although Wi-Fi owners have complained too) and the high resolution  Retina display that has twice as many LED lights.

A forum member reported a temperature of 117 degrees.

There is law that prohibits hot tubs from being higher than 105 degrees. However, heating pads can go as high at 160 F. Therefore the iPad may also make a great heating pad for your aching back or upset tummy.

Since the temperature of the screen is higher than the usual human body temperarture it may cause hands to sweat.
