Is the Smartphone Beta Test Really Over? Nokia Lumia 900 Update

It appears the smartphone beta test was not over for those who bought the new Nokia Lumia 900 who found themselves as part of a beta test of AT&T connectivity "issues."

There is now a software fix for the issue for the Nokia Lumia 900 which can be downloaded via Zune software. Owners also have the option of trading in the Nokia Lumia 900 handset for a new one.

Nokia posted an apology which stated,

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and as a gesture of goodwill, we are offering a $100 AT&T bill credit to everyone who has already purchased a Nokia Lumia 900 or who will purchase one before April 21st."

Some contend that the $100 credit is a grand gesture and improved perception of Windows Phones. In fact some people can make money on the deal.

If you bought the Lumia 900 from AT&T for $99.99  you make a penny on the deal.  However if you buy it from Amazon Wireless. before April 21 where  the  Nokia Lumia 900 is $19.99 for new customers and $49.99 for renewing customers with a contracts then you can make either nearly eighty or fifty dollars with deal.

The "Smartphone Beta Test is Over" commercial says every other smartphone model was a beta test.

Because smartphones now have to have many functions such as camera, social network updater, GPS and restaurant finder, as well as an organizer, it may be a long time before the smartphone beta test is over.

In fact we still get the "blue screen of death" on our Windows computer.  Even the iPhone is not without a glitch, heating issues or antenna problem.

"It ain't over until till it's over," said Yogi Berra.  Once the smartphone beta test is really over then a beta test for a new device will begin...
