Kit Kat Purrs for Android 4.4 Snack Breaks

The next version of Android 4.4 will be officially named after the chocolatey wafer snack Kit Kat.

The marketing for the the candy states "The future of conectionery has arrived. Ladies and Gentleman welcome to the Android powered KitKat 4.4.

KITKitandroidAndroid Kit Kat features include:

  • Works in landscape and portrait.
  • Panoramic taster experience.
  • Compatible with all liquid accessories.
  • There are different mega-bite options.
  • Wireless recharging.
  • 4 fingered display.
  • Multiple configurations.
  • Free apps.

The Android website says "Prepare for  a sweet new treat."  Promotions include chances to win a Nexus 7 or Google Play credits from specially branded Kit Kat bars in stores.

In the past, Android versions were named after desserts Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, and Jelly Bean all in alphabetical order.

Key Lime Pie was dropped because very few people, "actually know the taste of a Key lime pie," said John Lagerling, Android's director of global partnerships.

Nestle will ship 50 million Android-labled Kit Kat bars. The deal was finalized at a secret meeting  at  Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, earlier this year. The story was kept a secret and both companies claimed that there was no money exchanged in the deal.

Google claims that "It's our goal with Android KitKat to make an amazing Android experience for everybody."

This could be either the greatest marketing ploy of all time or melt like chocolate in a microwave oven.

Whereas kids use their smartphones constantly, isn't it like giving babies chocolate milk.  Will they make a chocolate colored/covered Android phone?

As Jay Leno would say, "Now we can have fatter kids with worse acne."

The state of California has banned sugared drinks from the schools, could parents ask for chocolate ban?
