The spokesman for Slacker Radio confirmed that Slacker Radio works on the BlackBerry Tour. You can listen to over 100 expert-programmed stations and an unlimited number of listener generated stations whether you are connected to a network or not.

The Slacker app also shows detailed artist bios and album reviews for each song.

Handmark has released TweetCaster, a new free Twitter application available exclusively for BlackBerry smartphones with a trackball (including the BlackBerry Tour) and the BlackBerry Storm.

TweetCaster claims that their app, makes Twitter on a BlackBerry smartphone fast, easy, and fun. With TweetCaster, offers nearly twice the number of features as alternative BlackBerry smartphone or mobile web-based Twitter apps.

It appears that the most popular apps for the BlackBerry Storm are appearing for the BlackBerry Tour.  It was recently announced that WHERE now does all its locating magic on the BlackBerry Tour.

AT&T and LG are integrating their phones and service with MTV's new series "The Phone," produced by Justin Timberlake,  on MTV.

AT&T will cut 12,000 jobs, orabout 4 percent of the company's total workforce.  They cite economic pressures, a changing business mix and a more streamlined organizational structure.

While AT&T is reducing jobs in some areas, it continues to add jobs in other parts of the business - such as wireless, video and broadband - to meet customer demand.
Many nonmanagement employees affected by these reductions have a guaranteed job offer under union contracts. All employees will receive severance in accordance with management policies or union agreements.

There is another text message rate increase looming on November 12, increasing the per text (SMS and IM) message to 20 cents, making the increase close to 100% in a few years. One of our writers received the following text message from AT&T for her AT&T GoPhone:

"Text/IM rate will increase on11/12/08 to $.20 per message sent/received. Save with messaging pkg. rates as low as $.01 msg."

When the owner of phone started on the phone a few years ago it was only 10 cents a message and then it was increased to 15 cents to receive a message, earlier this year.  While it was remained free to receive messages.  If she now, does in fact have to pay 20 cents to receive a message that would mean a 400% increase from when she purchased the phone.

The LG Vu is due out any moment and we just looked at all the reviews and they weren’t as positive as the first looks were from CTIA. We’ve had to completely rewrite  “Review of Reviews of the LG Vu” with one reviewer writing “the phone looks pimp as hell,”  In order to figure out what “pimp as hell” means we looked up “pimp” in the urban dictionary, which is defined as “something badass or new and fresh.”  Getting hell to be new and fresh is the hard part.

After averaging all the reviews together our rating came in at 4 out 5.  If the iPhone didn’t exist, it would probably have been higher.

AT&T and Starbucks today announced the beginning of the rollout of AT&T Wi-Fi service at company-operated Starbucks stores, kicking off a nationwide effort that will continue through 2008. At the 2008 AT&T Inc. Annual Meeting of Stockholders in San Antonio, chairman and chief executive officer Randall Stephenson announced that the companies have already started the deployment of AT&T Wi-Fi service at Starbucks locations in San Antonio, making it the first market to deliver the complete AT&T Wi-Fi experience in the U.S.

Also, as of May 1, qualifying AT&T high speed Internet and Wi-Fi customers will have complimentary Wi-Fi access at more than 7,000 Starbucks locations nationwide. For millions of AT&T customers, that means more speed in more places — and for free. Qualifying AT&T customers can connect to the Internet from Wi-Fi enabled company-operated Starbucks locations nationwide by simply selecting “ATTWiFi” after powering up their computers. Free AT&T Wi-Fi service is currently offered with AT&T’s three higher-speed residential broadband packages, all small business broadband packages and with all AT&T U-verse(SM) offerings with high speed Internet service.
