washingtonDC-traffic_235x195.jpgVerizon Wireless and AirSage have entered into an agreement where non-identifying data from Verizon Wireless' network will be used to help AirSage provide real-time traffic information.

Verizon Wireless' network data will be made anonymous and integrated into AirSage's patented Wireless Signal Extraction Technology platform to enable live traffic monitoring on major interstates, highways and arterials.

The claim the deal will enhance AirSage's traffic coverage and accuracy by quadrupling the number of signaling messages; when the data is fully integrated, more than 12 billion signaling messages across more than 200,000 centerline miles of roadway will power applications for government agencies, businesses and consumers.

mysapcemockupwindows.pngMySpace will support Microsoft Windows Mobile and Microsoft Silverlight. The new MySpace mobile application, available this summer, will run on Windows phones and use Silverlight, Microsoft's free browser plug-in.

The companies are in close collaboration to offer a MySpace for Windows Mobile app which will be available for download later this summer.  The application integrates MySpace's main social features and functionality with the Windows operating system to provide access to the community in a way that's familiar to the Windows Mobile user.

The MySpace application will be available on Windows Mobile 6.1 phones later this summer and then in the fall of 2009 through the Windows Marketplace for Mobile, directly through phones, and the Web. LG will preload the MySpace application on their Windows phones, making it even easier than ever for users to gain real-time access to their global MySpace network. The new Windows phones are expected to be available in the second half of 2009.

  • Enhanced band profiles: Bands can add tour dates and more profile bits to their profiles, like Upcoming Shows (displays more details on the show such as venue, date, address and cost)
  • Support for French, German, Italian and Spanish languages.
The BlackBerry app allows user to send and receive MySpace mail, as well as update status, view/send bulletins, add comments and post photos. It's available via PCs at blackberry.com/myspace.

Free MySpace Mobile for Sprint's Web Phones

art97/smallmyspacelogo.jpgsprintlogo.jpgMySpace, and Sprint thannounced the launch of free MySpace Mobile on all Web-enabled Sprint phones. The launch marks the first free direct access to the new MySpace Mobile website on a U.S. wireless carrier, allowing Sprint data subscribers a fast track to their MySpace profiles on their phones.

MySpace has partnered with Sprint to provide customers direct access to MySpace Mobile’s innovative tool set, including the ability to edit MySpace profiles, view and add friends, post blogs and bulletins, send and receive MySpace messages, and much more - all from their Sprint phone.

This announcement also marks the official launch of MySpace’s Mobile website, available via any mobile device at (http://m.myspace.com). The new version of MySpace Mobile features a a revamped email interface and other new features. The site, previously in beta, has seen more than one million unique visitors per day since its release in September.

art97/smallmyspacelogo.jpgFox Interactive Media (FIM), a division of News Corporation, today announced that MySpace, and several of the company's other leading Web brands will launch a series of new, ad-supported mobile Web sites that will be completely free to users on mobile devices.

The new MySpace Mobile Web beta service (http://mobile.myspace.com) will be available to consumers this week with a wider FIM rollout planned in the coming months.

"The MySpace Mobile Web significantly lowers the barrier of entry for all MySpace users to access their profiles on-the-go," said Amit Kapur, VP of business development for MySpace. "An ad-supported MySpace offering is a major component of our mobile monetization strategy and we look forward to broadly offering this industry leading roll-out to advertisers."

Comment from Wireless and Mobile News:
Analysts are skeptical.  The ads will have to be very tiny and it may take a while for mobile users to click on through, while driving or in the bank line.
