Let the smartphone wars begin. The name Droid came from Star Wars and Verizon 's sales force will be in full force with 'the Force," for selling the well-reviewed Droid X as well as other full-powered phones.

Leaked Verizon documents show some price drops except for the soon to be release released Droid X. The campaign slogans for The Droid X wax poetic with Star- Wardian catch(kitsh) phrases such as "high octane fuel for your eyes" "immense appsphere that powers your way past mortal peers" and "Witnes your own evolution right before your ecstatic dilated eyes."

“We brought together the resources and experience of the Boost and Virgin Mobile teams in late 2009,” said Sprint CEO Dan Hesse. “Since that time, we have been developing the critical pieces of our multi-brand prepaid strategy.”

The Virgin Mobile business will be geared for people who use text and data services to power constant connection with their social networks.

“These are for younger, power-connecters that are primarily on their social networks,” Dan Schulman, president of Sprint’s prepaid group said in an interview, “There’s no use in having thousands of minutes if you don’t use them.”

Instead of per-minute fees, the service will offer unlimited messaging, email, data and web included on all plans starting at $25 a month up to $60 depending on the number of minutes.

The $25 per-month plan comes with 300 minutes of talk time while $40 a month will get 1,200 minutes, and unlimited minutes will cost $60 a month.The BlackBerry Curve 8520 is $299,99, the LG Rumor Touch- $149.99 (without contract only), the LG Rumor 2 $89.99, and the Kyocera Loft for $69.99.

The Motorola Devour is coming to Verizon in March,  and as of today, you can start ordering the phone from some retailers.

Although the Devour is not officially a Droid smartphone form Verizon it has some of the same features as Droid with the addition of the super-socialnetworking MOTOBLUR.

In a video from Motorola, a neat feature shown of the Motorola Devour is the wireless Motorola Phone Portal, that allows you to see what's on the Moto Devour from your computer and perform functions.
