Due to so many customers going for the unlimited services of Boost Mobile, their network bombed and needed its own boost to deal with all the network congestion. Customers complained of widespread problems and text messages taking hours and even until the next day to arrive. This would make the famous Boost question "Where U At?" moot.Once customer complained to an AP reporter "I got five text messages at 4 o'clock in the morning that I sent myself nine hours before."
Boost uses the Nextel network, which has had few problems in the past but is best known for its Push-to-Talk Walkie-Talkie features.
"The popularity of Boost Mobile caught us off guard. It overwhelmed our system," he said. The company has been working "day and night" to fix the problems, and aims to have the system "much improved" by next week, said a Boost spokesman.
Cost conscious texters in order to avoid texting fees have been know to buy a Boost phone just for texting. However, it sort of defeats the purpose because often texts are for the moment, such as, "I'm at school, pick me up now."
Boost heavily promoted their unlimited service and earlier and April sent out a comparison chart, saying it was a better deal than its competitor Virgin Mobile. "Boost Mobile charges $50 for unlimited use of talk, texting and wireless web, plus there are no extra taxes."
Metro PCS and Cricket have similar $50 a month unlimited plans which do not include taxes and fees however withe the Wireless and Mobile News' First Month Free Cricket coupon-link or you can use the MetroPCS First Month of Service Free coupon-link to save on one month of service.

Unlimited wars have heated up again this week. On Thursday, Virgin Mobile revealed their Totally Unlimited prepaid calling plan for $49.99 on April 15, 2009, and "Pink Slip Protection". Within a day, Boost sent out a news release to compare their unlimited service with Virgin Mobile's unlimited service.
Virgin Mobile's "Pink Slip Protection," will waive up to three months of monthly charges, if the customer becomes unemployed. Pink Slip Protection also applies to the new Texter's Delight program, designed for those who text more than talk. Virgin Mobiles' Totally Unlimited plan includes unlimited calling, anytime, anywhere in the United States is available for $49.99 Texters Delight plans offer 1000 Messages for just $14.99 or Unlimited Text and Messaging for $19.99. Included are Text, IM, Email, Photo and Video messaging.
Then we received a release from Boost Mobile saying that they were better and cheaper. They dared to compare and of course the comparison is in their favor:
"Boost Mobile's Monthly Unlimited plan offers greater value to consumers than Virgin Mobile's new $49.99 voice-only plan. In fact, Virgin Mobile's $49.99 per month plan can cost consumers closer to $72 per month when fees for text messaging, Web and telecom taxes are added in.
Boost Mobile charges $50 for unlimited use of talk, texting and wireless Web, plus there are no extra taxes.
Consumers who choose Boost Mobile can save more than $240 per year over Virgin Mobile's offering, and they won't be surprised by their wireless bill."
MetroPCS is now offering what we would call, "Family Group Call" service, GroupLINE, a one-call solution targeted at families/friends who want to save money by "cutting the cord" and replacing
their landline telephones with wireless phones.
With a regular landline, users in a family could pick up extension phones so that everyone could talk at once. MetroPCS GroupLINE can replace this function. GroupLINE allows up to five MetroPCS' Family Plan subscribers to receive
calls on a shared GroupLINE number while still keeping their
individual mobile numbers.
Callers call the GroupLINE number and reach all of the
subscribers on the plan at the same time. With GroupLINE, family members
are all connected with each other as well as the incoming caller. There
is also a shared GroupLINE voicemail that the subscribers can access.
GroupLINE is available for subscribers on MetroPCS' Family Plan for an
additional $5 per month.
GroupLINE is available to subscribers on the Family Plan in all MetroPCS
markets. You can buy phones and plans with the Wireless and Mobile News coupon-link and get your first month of phone service for free.
