VZW LG Revolution Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update OTA Out

LG Revolution UPdateIt has been a great week for Verizon wireless 4G LTE smartphone upgrades to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The new update for the HTC ThunderBolt started rolling out last week and now it appears the LG Revolution is getting the Android makeover with some glitch fixes. The update is Version: VS910.  Generally updates are sent out in small lots first and then expand to larger coverage, over time.

The list of features in the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update are impressive, with the addition of download manager, active app management, shortcuts, one-touch copy/paste, widgets, icons, app groups, updated calendar options, camera geotagging, improved email synching, and camera auto-focus improvements.  Read Gingerbread tips.

Glitch fixes include updates to the email folder, Exchange attachments, SIM message storage, "Out-of-Office" settings, better shaped cursor, list menu issue, HDMI cable, and data in Airplane mode

Samsung Galaxy S II, Note & Some Tabs Updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich?

Galaxy Ice CreamCurrent top of the line Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets are expected to be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in 2012.

Samsung Italy confirmed that Samsung will update the Samsung Galaxy S II , Samsung Galaxy Note and some Tab tablets to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.   In the past, after European models of the Samsung Galaxy smartphone updates were announced, U.S. models followed. Usually,  the U.S. models take longer to update because the updates are tested by the U.S. carriers.

Droid RAZR Sold-Out (Not): Back-in-Stock for Now

There were reports that the Droid RAZR  was temporarily out of stock on its very first day of  presale at Verizon Wireless online.  We we checked with two  ZIP codes and had no trouble ordering a Droid RAZR.  At one point, the Verizon Website was a little slow but came back quickly.

  On the Verizon website it shows it will ship by November 10 which has been promised since the original announcement.

We have received an eamil from Verizon spokesman Albert Aydin which says, " There was a temporary error on our website and was resolved earlier today. "

Droid RAZR Preorders 10/27 - 11/10 Release Date? - Free NFL Mobile

Droid RAZRThe late night super smartphone jump on presales will not be available for the new Droid RAZR. Instead presales will start at 8:00am EST tomorrow at Verizon Wireless online.

It will cost $299 with a contract.   It is good news because we don't have release dates for other new smartphone expected from Verizon Wireless such as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Prime) or HTC Rezound (Vigor).

Verizon has promised that Droid RAZR smartphones will ship no later than Thursday, November 10.  There is no official word, yet on if customers will be able to buy Droid RAZR smartphones in Verizon stores on that day, which may also be the release date for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus or HTC Rezound.

Previous major Droid releases sold-out within a few days of release dates. To promote 4G LTE superfast data access NFL Mobile is included at no additional charge for 4G LTE customers for the remainder of the 2011 season
