SamsungHaven.JPGVerizon Wireless will start selling the Samsung Haven on July 29. This basic flip phone won the Good Housekeeping Seal and is easy-to-use. It also gives users helpful healthy tools with alarms for exercising or pill taking. There is also a medial app to help with medication notes and allergies. Although they don't state it in their news release, the Samsung Haven appears for the older crowd, that needs medication, big-easy-buttons, large fonts, notes and reminders.

The Samsung Haven comes in Charcoal has, a 2.2-inch internal screen and easy-to-read display with adjustable font size. The dedicated keys offer one-touch quick access to Emergency 911 (E911), speakerphone, voicemail, voice commands, In Case of Emergency (ICE), and My Pictures. Customers can program the ICE button with up to three personalized contacts that first responders can easily find in the event of an emergency.

Free cell phones for low-income household in Florida is now available from Assurance Wireless, from Virgin Mobile with 200 free minutes of wireless voice service monthly to eligible customers.

Along with free voicemail and call waiting, Assurance Wireless provides caller ID and access to 911 in case of emergency. Beyond the free 200 minutes, customers can pay for additional 10-cent-per-minute domestic calling, 10-cent text, e-mail or instant messages and international calling at competitive rates.

Customers eligible for Assurance Wireless include those who participate in Medicaid, Food Stamps/SNAP, Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA/TANF), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Bureau of Indian Affairs Programs (BIA), Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), or National School Lunch Program's Free Lunch Program. KINONE with HAMELT.JPGDays after slashing the prices of the Kin One and Kin Two, it has been revealed that the two not fully-smartphones with tons of social networking are almost DOA.

One of the major barriers of both Kins was that they required a full data plan, running up the cost of the phones.

"We have made the decision to focus exclusively on Windows Phone 7 and we will not ship Kin in Europe this fall as planned," Microsoft said"Additionally, we are integrating our Kin team with the Windows Phone 7 team, incorporating valuable ideas and technologies from Kin into future Windows Phone releases. We will continue to work with Verizon in the U.S. to sell current Kin phones.

Business Insider reported a that Microsoft has sold only 500 Kin phones which is very low considering the ad efforts and deployment.

The top five mobile phone makers were Nokia (1), Samsung (2), LG (3), RIM BlackBerry (4) and Sony Ericsson (5) reported Gartner Inc. These results are slightly different from iSuppli figures that show BlackBerry and number 5 and Apple iPhone at number 6.

There were 314.7 million units in the first quarter of 2010 of worldwide mobile phone sales,  a 17 per cent increase from the same period in 2009, according to Gartner, Inc.

"In the first quarter of 2010, smartphone sales to end users saw their strongest year-on-year increase since 2006," said Carolina Milanesi, research vice president at Gartner. "This quarter saw RIM, a pure smartphone player, make its debut in the top five mobile devices manufacturers, and saw Apple increase its market share by 1.2 percentage points. Android's momentum continued into the first quarter of 2010, particularly in North America, where sales of Android-based phones increased 707 per cent year-on-year.

Smarpthone sales to end users reached 54.3 million units, an increase of 48.7 per cent from the first quarter of 2009. Among the most successful vendors were those that controlled an integrated set of operating system (OS), hardware and services.

Research In Motion's BlackBerry and Apple's iPhone in the first quarter rose to the fifth and sixth place in the global market for all types of cell phones. Motorola Inc. fell to eighth place. Nokia still remained number one, followed by Samsung, LG, and SonyEricssion with only a marginal lead to BlackBerry reports iSuppli.

The Ham-himself said, "A little more than kin, and less than kind". - (Act I, Scene II)." Maybe he would Twitter to Opheilia "Get U 2 a Nun-R-E!" Hamlet's comments pre-dejavu  the recent uproar about the Kin One and Kin Two phones.

Reviewers have not been kind about the extra fees teens, and tweens will have to pay for the KIN One and KIN Two. The less than kind Kin phones require a minimum of $70 per month for voice and data service, which means the total cost will be at least $3,410 for two years.

Verizon and Microsoft's new smartphone-like feature phones kids on the block, their KIN phones will debut online tomorrow the Kin One for $49.99, and the higher-powered Kin Two for $99.9.

Geared for socially-networked young people, KIN blends the phone, online services and the PC. Both KIN phones feature a touchscreen and slide-out QWERTY keyboard in different form factors. breEZe_II.jpgPantech and AT&T have released the  breEZe II a faster, simpler phone with added ability to browse the web or manage email as well as making calls and sending messages.

They don't call it what is, a phone geared towards seniors or those who just want a cell phone that's mainly a phone. It's got big numbers and big fonts, for those vain types who don't want to put on their glasses don't have use our glasses. Notice the two largest letter "EZ" so it better be easy to use

breEZe II is supposed to simplify and make cellular easier. An external LED notifier alerts missed calls, new messages and low battery. One-touch buttons make calls to friends and loved ones easy. There's all a menu smart search.

breEZe II has the following EZ features:
  • EZ One-Touch Quick-Call Keys -- Three programmable quick-call buttons, programmed with contacts, just  press the send button to start a call.
  • Customizable Menu -- Users can choose between two menu options: "breEZe mode," which is a simple, linear menu that provides customers access to the features they use most, and "Advanced mode," an icon representation of the phone's full set of features including social networking, games and music options.
  • Large Font and Keypad -- In breEZe mode, menu screens use a highly visible large font, while the keypad is enlarged to ensure that keys are easily seen and activated.

Microsoft KIN.jpgIf you are young hip and so-socially networked, the latest blogging snoopy leak may interest you.  There's a shot of an internal Verizon documents shows that  the Kin One and Kin Two will be availalbe for pre-order from Verizon on May 6th, on the web, and launch on all channels on May 13th.

The original news release announced a May release date from Verizon Wireless. The KIN are claimed to be "ultimate social experience that blends the phone, online services and the PC with new experiences called the Loop, Spot and Studio."

There are two models called KIN ONE and KIN TWO. Both phones feature a touchscreen and slide-out keyboard. KIN ONE is a small  compact is a portrait slider and KIN TWO has a larger screen and keyboard, in addition to more memory, a higher resolution camera, and the ability to record high-definition video.

The 5 and 8 megapixel cameras in ONE and TWO, respectively, are designed for use in low light with image stabilization and a bright LumiLED flash.

Software creates the KIN Loop, showing what's happening in someone's social world. KIN automatically brings together feeds from Facebook, MySpace and Twitter all in one place, making it easier to stay connected.

KIN-Folk get access to KIN Studio online clod, where almost everything created on the phone is available in the cloud from any web browser.

BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion moved into the top 5 vendor rankings for the first time. RIM, which replaced Motorola in the top 5, tied Sony Ericsson for the number 4 position in IDC's 1Q10 vendor rankings.in their latest report, IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker

RIM shipped 10.6 million units in the first quarter while Motorola, which had been a top 5 vendor since the inception of the repeort 2004, shipped 8.5 million units. Motorola, the number 2 overall vendor in 2004, registered a fifth place finish last years steadily lost share since 2004..

The Samsung Reality is loaded with Samsung's TouchWiz interface for personalization and widgets. The Communities widget can give updates to social networking sites, post pictures and upload videos to YouTube and other websites instantly.  The Samsung Reality can be setup with one-touch widgets for favorite websites on the phone's full HTML web browser.

U.S. Cellular will offer the LG Mystique tomorrow. The LG Mystique is a  flip phone with a music player with external controls,, microSD slot supporting up to 16GB of memory and micro USB charging port. Dedicated internal hot keys allow one-touch access to easyedge(SM), music, and voice commands. Users can also organize and track their busy social calendars.

The LG Mystique has an external touch screen, full QWERTY keypad with dedicated hot keys, 2.0 megapixel camera and camcorder, video player and Bluetooth.

LG Mystique keeps family and friends in the loop with a 2.0 megapixel camera and camcorder complete with image editor, slide show function and self-portrait capabilities.
