By 2015 Most Revenue from Data, Says Research and Markets

Research_and_Markets.jpgResearch and Markets has announced the addition of “Global - Mobile Data - Overview & Analysis - 2007” to their offering.

By 2015 it is expected that mobile revenue will mostly come from data. This depends however on business models changing to become ones that offer low cost mobile data services as the norm. For many mobile operators this will require significant changes to their current voice-centric business models. So far competition has also not led to the development of a mass mobile data market, and despite all the hype about mobile wireless broadband, most HSPA services are aimed at the top end of the market, for business users and professionals. Wireless broadband is much more suited for the delivery of mobile data, and the infrastructure also has better potential for the delivery of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). These are two reasons why wireless broadband could start challenging 3G in the next decade. This report includes an overview and analysis of the mobile data industry. Statistics for mobile content and services can be found from a separate report.
