T-Mobile is expected launch an over-the-air (OTA) update of the Google Android firmware for the T-Mobile G1 by the end of January.

The G1update will be called RC31 and include Cupcake elements.

Cupcake update elements include:

• New MMS features including the ability to save attachments.
• Email fixes with notifications for POP3 accounts.
• Browser features and improvements include updated WebKit browser core, synced with Nov 2008 WebKit version; Copy / paste is enabled in the browser; drawing has been sped up substantially by supporting partial content invalidates and partial screen invalidates and pages with animations are 5x faster.
• Camera/Gallery, New features include video recorder mode, share intent for videos,video thumbnails and local file playback.
• Input method framework, for soft keyboards and other on-screen input methods.
• Support for 3rd parties to make their own onscreen keyboards.
