Star Gazer App of the Night: Google Sky Map for Android-Astronomer in Your Pocket

stardroid2.pngGoogle Sky Map for Android helps users learn about the sky using GPS, compass, and date and time data.

Google Sky Map turns Android-powered mobile phone into a dynamic window on the night sky. When you point your phone upwards you will see a map of the brightest stars, constellations and planets in that part of the sky.

Every time time you see a bright star and want to know what it’s called, the Sky Map astronomer app can help you identify it.

You can also search the sky using text, type in Mars and the app will give you direction on how to get there. Singing “Fly me to the moon,” probably won’t work.

Google Sky Map is available from the Android Market. For more information watch the video below, or visit the Lat Long Blog.
