Asus Transformer Prime Primed for Update & Another Update to Fix Update

The Asus Transformer Prime is getting an update today with camera, GPS and glitch fixes.  Although it is not an update to the coveted Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, Asus is being lauded for it prompt attention to updates. However, there have been issues reported with the update that Asus support is aware of and in the process of fixing.

Meanwhile, some tech bloggers are berating Asus for locking the bootloader on the coolest tablet of 2011.

Before updating the Asus Transformer Prime to  8.8.3.33, be sure to back up your data and have you battery fully charged..  It also helps to have a strong Wi-Fi connection.

The firmware update improves the focus on the camera and touch.  The update fixes shaking logo problem when installing many apps and boot-up. The MyZine widget is removed from the desktop.  For Android apps, Android APK compatibility has been improved.  The GPS speed is enhanced.

There are reports of failures from the update.   Some Asus Transformer Prime owners have had to return their tablets to Asus.  Some owners are awaiting another software fix to fix the "bricking"associated with the update. If at any time your screen freezes or the update does not complete, it could be time to contact Asus technical support.  Some users reported that resetting the tablet does not help.

The update can take as long as twenty minutes.  If the update doesn't work users get "three gears and an exclamation point."
