iPhone iOS 6.1.1 Update 4 iPhone 4S Only 2Day

iOS 6.1.1One of the fastest adopted updates for iPhone, iOS 6.1, has been updated again. Apple issued a new update, today, that fixes bugs reported on the iPhone 4S.  The update 6.1.1 is for iPhone 4S only.

iPhone 4S owners have reported that the new update drains battery life significantly.  Vodaphone asked its iPhone 4S users not to install the update at all.  In fact Vodaphone noted that iPhone 4S users may not be able to receive calls or SMS after the the 4.1 update. Other  iOS 6.1 reported  issues between the iOS Mail app and Microsoft Exchange.

iPhone 4S users can download the update over-the-air (OTA).

The Apple support page states "The new update fixes an issue that could impact cellular performance and reliability for iPhone 4S. System Requirements: iPhone 4S."

One January 28, Apple  released iOS 6.1 for iPhone 3GS and later(4, 4S 5) , iPad mini, iPad 2, iPad 3rd generation and and iPad 4, as well as iPod Touch 4th generation and after. The iOS 6.1 update added LTE in some markets, fixed bugs, added Siri ticket buying as well as other features.

To update over the air:

  1. Make sure your iPhone 4S is connected to a power source. To avoid potential data costs connect your device to a Wi-Fi network.
  2. Go to Settings > General > Software Update. iOS will automatically check for available updates.
  3. If an update is available* you can tap Download to download the update.
  4. After the download has completed tap Install to update your iOS.
  5. If an update is available* you can tap Download to download the update.
  6. After the download has completed tap Install to update your iOS.

Since there is an iOS 6.1.1 beta, we suspect other iOS devices such as the Phone 3GS and later(4, 5) , iPad mini, iPad 2, iPad 3rd generation and iPad 4, as well as iPod Touch 4th generation and after will be updated in the future.
