Mobile World Congress Review of News: Galaxy Gear 2/Neo, Huawei G6, Windows Phone, Firefox & Iris

Today there were new products revealed from Samsung, Huawei, Alcatel and Texas Instruments.Samsung prior to Mobile World Congress announced the Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches with enhanced connectivity with some new twists and changes. The Samsung Gear 2 has the camera on the "watch" and strap color options  Charcoal Black, Gold Brown and Wild Orange for Gear2. Strap colors for the Gear2Neo are Charcoal Black, Mocha Grey and Wild Orange. The smartwatches allow for alerts, call screen, TV remote control, play music, coach fitness, monitor heart rates and more the "Gear"s are powered by Tizen software and work with Samsung mobile devices.

AcuuWeather announced, it has joined the Tizen program to develop Tizen programs.

Huawei Wows with Higher Res Selfies

Huawei announced several new products already, a smartband headband with an earpiece for Bluetooth Talkband and the 4.5" 5Mp front facing camera Ascend G6. Huawei new tablets include the 8" MediaPad M1 and  the super slim more expensive 7" MediaPad X1.

Firefox Phones More Makers & Dev Tools

Mozilla announced new Firefox devices that are affordable and developer tools. New devices include the ZTE Open C and Open II, Alcatel ONETOUCH Fire C, Fire E, Fire S and Fire 7 tablet. Firefox devices are now in 15 markets.

Picture an Even Smaller Pico Projector

Texas Instruments revealed the  0.3" HD Tilt & Roll Pixel (TRP) DLP Pico chipset, its smallest, most power-efficient micro-mirror array, which can generate high-definition (HD) displays from compact electronics.

The Trials of NFC Identities

During MWC the GSMA will have an NFC trial to confirm identities of customers of Bouygues Telecom, Bharti Airtel, Dialog, Du, Etisalat, KT Corp., Orange, Tata and Telstra via an automated photo ID check trial system.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg will be a keynote Speaker at Mobile World Congress (MWC).

Exhibits Galore and More Samsung

There will be 72,000 exhibitors and a special connected village for connected cars and homes. Samsung, Lenovo (new owner of Motorola Mobility), Facebook and Ericsson will be exhibiting. Samsung will announced the Samsung Galaxy S5 on Monday.

Windows Phone Updates and New Makers

Microsoft announced new hardware partners for Windows Phone today at MWC, Foxconn, Gionne, JSR, Karbonn, Lava, Lenovo, LG, Longcheer and ZTE.  Windows Phone will also support more processors and hardware makers will be assisted at eh Wihdows Hardware Partner Portal. Windows 8.1 will be updated in the spring. Microsoft is working on security and enterprise features for Windows Phones.
