Droid charge updateWe have confirmed from Verizon spokesman Albert Aydin that Verizon is rolling out an update for the Samsung Droid Charge.

The FP1 update fixes some glitches in ads the ability for USB tethering blocks tehtering while in Wi-Fi mode and adds new widgets.

Update 03/28/11: One of our readers noticed that the documentatio at Verizon online now states that the update block Wi-Fi USB tethering.  We have corrected the mistake.

There have been reports that there is an update ready to go for the Samsung Droid Charge update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread named "i510.EP4" The Verizon support page says "Coming Soon," however, there have been reports of Droid Charge by Samsung owners, receiving the update.

Along with Android Gingerbread features the update adds messaging signature setting,  encrypts hotspot password, software upgrade assist and the volume of the Low Battery Notification sound has been reduced. Improvements have been made to audio, Bluetooth,  camera, data connections/usage, email and calendar sync.

There are reports in more than one place, that some lucky Droid Charge owners have gotten updates.  Before you get all excited, the first round of updates are usually the slowest.  On the first day, there are very few updates sent out over-the-air.  Then over time Verizon ramps up the update with major push on Thursdays or as late as Fridays.
