lgvenv2-a.jpgThe enV2 by LG is now available. The first impressions of the phone are favorable for the large bright interior screen, texting/email capabilities, QWERTY keyboard, bigger external key pad, and added turn-by-turn directions. Reviewers have revealed minor weaknesses are of the enV2.

Although it does not upgrade all the features of the original enV the new design has been called "chic" and "sexy." The outside numbers are easier to use and the music player can be activated without opening the phone. The email functions are text-only, causing some reviewers to comment that it is not as robust as it should be. But where all the reviewers agree that this phone is a texting powerhouse and has great call quality.

The enV2is priced at $129.99 with a contract from Verizon.

Nicole Lee at CNET writes that the new slimmer ligher design, "a chic makeover" with a comfortable touch. She liked how the roomier keypad works on the front of the phone reducing the size of the outside display. The Web browser, e-mail, V Cast video, mobile IM, and VZ Navigator can only be activated when the phone is open. The internal display is 'impressive" and the QWERTY roomy keyboard is a bit "cramped." Music is now accessible from the outside display and call quality was excellent. Audio quality of the speakers is average and the browser in not full HTML.The photo quality was mediocre with a final excellent rating of 8 out of 10.

Sacha Segan at PC Mag rates it 3.5 out 5 and writes that the "enV2 has one of the best no-nonsense number pads I've seen in ages" and " it handles two core functions--voice calling and text messaging--very well." The email can only be viewed as text with a limited number of lines on the screen. He notes that thehe enV2 is not only cheaper the BlackBerry Pearl but its keyboard is much better. The music apps worked well but video dragged. Since the evV2 can work as a Bluetooth modem for laptop use and file transfer. "At $129.99 with a contract, the enV2 is a compelling phone for voice calling and text messaging. "

Laptop Magazine named the enV2 by LG the Best Messaging Phone of CTIA, id ramatically improves upon the design of the original enV by shrinking in every dimension while offering a larger, 2.4-inch internal display. A full reveal is not available yet.

Gizmodo Lightning Review says, "If you liked the enV, you'll go nuts over the enV2--a remarkable improvement in almost every conceivable way." It's a more "highly evolved creature" than the earlier model with a cleaner interface. The major problem is that e-mail is still not nearly as robust as it should be and mobile browsing is obviously terrible.  It not a smartphone, but a solid phone for the teen or texter crowd.
