The Sony Xperia X1 has been called "the most hyped" handset to come out of Mobile World Congress by FiereceMobileIT, and  a "solid contender for Windows Mobile users."  Bonnie Cha at CNET wrote in her first impressions hands-on report, "the hardware is elegant and strong" and the  QWERTY keyboard is spacious. she referred to the enhanced 6.1 Windows Operating System as cool and flashy.

MobileTechReview was pleased with Xperia X1 and found the software innovative. With GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth and a touch screen, their review unit is very fast by Windows Mobile standards, including

Yahoo's Gadget Hound wrote that the XPERIA X1 "looks like a winner, give or take a few rough edges" for its beautiful construction, slippery keys, great connectivity and easy-to-use panels.

Laptop Magazine named the XPERIA X1 the Best SmartPhone of CTIA Wireless for premium design, extreme personalization, nine desktop operations, arc sliding design and 3.2 megapixel camera.
