Android Droid Tips 2Day: How to Uninstall & Remove Unwanted Apps / Programs

deleteappfromverizon.pngWith Verizon and your favorite wireless news sources, suggesting the best Droid / Android apps,  you may have downloaded some apps you are now no longer using onto your Android, Droid, or Droid Eris, Motorola Cliq, or HTC Hero, you received over the Holidays.  How then do you remove, get rid-of, uninstall or put an end to that crazy app that you no longer want?

It's not that obvious how to remove an installed app on Android smartphones. Here are our detailed directions.

  • First, unlock your screen.
  • Tap the menu button, and go to settings.
  • Scroll down to applications and tap on it.
  • Tap on "Manage applications."
  • All your installed applications will show up on the list.
  • Tap on the app you want to uninstall and remove.
  • About a quarter the way down the screen is an "Uninstall button."
  • "Tap Uninstall."
  • You will be greeted with "Uninstall application?"
  • Click/tap OK or cancel.
  • You will receive a message "Uninstall finished!"
  • Click/tap OK.

Droid Eris by HTC offers an alternative way to uninstall apps according to the HTC help website.

"You can uninstall any application that you have downloaded and
installed from Android Market. On the My Downloads screen, tap the
application you want to uninstall, then tap Uninstall. When prompted,
tap OK to remove the application on your phone."

From the Motorla Cliq instructions it says.

"Find it: Menu > Settings > Applications
> Manage applications
Tap an app in the list, then tap Uninstall (for apps you
downloaded), Clear cache, or other options."
