Skype announced via its blog that is no longer offering Skype for
Windows Mobile and
Skype Lite. The reason is
for the chane is that "neither of these apps offered a great Skype experience."
The latest version of the Windows Mobile OS, was increasingly
challenging for Skype to maintain an app on
a wide range of handsets without working with a mobile operator partner.
Skype Lite only worked in a small number of countries. Where it did work, making a call required use of minutes
from the carrier, making the Skype-to-Skype calls
sort-of-free-per-minute rather than actually-free-per-minute.
If
you already use one of these apps, you can keep on using them.
They suggest if you haven't already tried it yet,
you should try
Skype for Symbian.
