Analysts are estimating that about 152,000 people pre-ordered the iPad by
midnight Sunday night. The first round of pre-orders were at 25,000 an hour which dropped off significantly.
The battery in the forthcoming iPad is not removable or replaceable by the owner. Apple will offer an iPad battery replacement service costings $99, plus $6.95 shipping. The total cost is $105.95
per unit. All fees are in U.S. dollars and are subject to local tax.
Users will receive a replacement iPad and no data will be maintained. Before users submit an iPad for service, it is important to sync the
iPad with iTunes to back up contacts, calendars, email account
settings, bookmarks, apps, etc. Apple is not responsible for the loss of
information when servicing the iPad which takes about a week.
