We were finally able to get pics an specs of the Samsung Beam I8530, Android projector smarpthone. The Samsung Beam I8530 Android smartphone was awarded first prize at for the smartphone category of the E-Tech Awards

The Samsung Beam has a 3.7" AMOLED dsiplay and on-spot video / photo projection and optional mobile TV projection. The Samsung Beam  is an Android smartphone embedded with a pico projector that gives a "big picture" viewing experience for sharing pictures, watching videos, playing games, viewing e-mail attachments and even giving presentations.

The Samsung Beam features include a visual present, memo pad,and the ability to share documents & Web-surf on the projected screen. A nice addition is the 8MP camera with video capture. It also comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and offers up to 8 hours of Talk Time.

It will be shipped with Android 2.1 Eclair with voice to text filling of all text fields, turn-turn navigataion, sentient wallpaper, pinch-to-zoom with your fingers in the browser, Gallery, and Google Maps as well as a new 3D photo gallery. There is also the Google Maps update synchronized desktop
maps.google.com and memorized locations with a new night mode.

    I think this is a tread that will continue. While there will always be dedicated projector I believe most smart phones will have pico projectors build in to them within 2 years or so
