Google Nexus One to Go Retail, Webstore for Showcasing All Android

nexus-one-store.pngFollowing Verizon's and Sprint's decisions not to join the Nexus One bandwagon, putting their marketing dollars on the HTC Incredible and HTC EVO 4G, instead. Google will phase out the selling of the Nexus One super Android smartphone from the webstore.

Today, in the official Google blog, Andy Rubin wrote that although Google is happy with the overall adoption of the Android operating system for smartphones,  the Nexus One webstore has not met their expectations. He noted that the innovation from the Nexus One spurred innovation in the HTC Incredible as well as the HTC EVO 4G.
"It's remained a niche channel for early adopters, but it's clear that many customers like a hands-on experience before buying a phone, and they also want a wide range of service plans to chose from," wrote Rubin.

Google is working with retailers to get the Nexus One into retail channels like they did in Europe.

After the Nexus One devices is readily available in retail stores they'll stop selling them in the  webstore, and will instead use it as an onlin showcase a variety of Android phones available globally.

He says that Google believes the move "will help get more phones to more people quicker, which is good for the entire Android ecosystem: users, partners and also Google."

The Google Nexus One received excellent reviews, and then "issues" appeared with long waits for email support and touchiness with the touchscreen, which have been fixed.However HTC does offer  live-US-staffed 888 number tech support. Web banner ads contend that the Nexus One wallpaper has sentience.
