Pre-orders for the iPhone 4 started today and it did not go off without a glitch. Stores and websites couldn't keep up with the demand, so people flocked to stores.
We just called our local Apple store, and was told there were five calls ahead that
the system was down and it wouldn't do any good to go into the store to
pre-order the iPhone 4. The store rep said, "Keep trying."
At our local AT&T store, customers started lining up at 8:00 am this morning to pre-order iPhone 4 smartphones. Their system is not down, and it takes bout an hour to get a pre-order in the system. The rep suggested that you call your local store before going over there. They are only allowing one customer per associate so the rest of the group is waiting outside in the sun. Maybe an added good suggestion is to bring an umbrella and wear sunscreen!
AT&T and Apple websites were over-loaded. It has been reported that the iPhone order app on previous models of iPhone was not working. Some bloggers as they are app to do are calling pre-sales of the iPhone 4 a total disaster as customers flocked to stores to be sure they could pre-order where orders had to be taken with pen and paper because AT&T servers were down.
Some customer orders that looked like they went through were sent
emails, reporting cancellations and errors. Credit cards sometimes were
charged more than once. Then finally orders were going through but were
back-ordered by two weeks.
It has also been reported that Best Buy stores use another system and
are able to take orders.
The new iPhone 4 is very thin - 9.3mm thick, which is 24% thinner
than current iPhone. The iPhone 4 has a stainless steel case for
less smudges and scratches, the band that goes around the iPhone 4
works as an antenna.

78% of the pixels of iPad. Jobs claims is better than OLED. The rear 5
megapixel camera has LED flash and 5x digital zoom and there is a front
facing camera for video chat.
