There were over 13 million visitors to AT&T's website, yesterday, for iPhone 4 pre-orders. Glitches and outages occurred through the day.
"iPhone 4 pre-order sales yesterday were 10 times higher than the first
day of pre-ordering for the iPhone 3G S last year," an AT&T statement reported. Pre-orders for the iPhone 4 at AT&T are temporally suspended while there is a July 14 arrival date for Apple orders.
"It was the largest number of pre-orders Apple has ever taken in a
single day and was far higher than we anticipated, resulting in many
order and approval system malfunctions," Apple reported "many customers were turned away or abandoned the
process in frustration."
Reservations for a June 24 in-store pick up of the iPhone 4 have also ended.
Yesterday, we reported around noon-time, some AT&T were taking orders while Apple store employees suggested to keep trying to buy via the websites. Today, it was reported that AT&T had not tested it's order system.
