Wherefore Art Thou Samsung Galaxy S II/Note ICS Update? Release Date?

AndroidIceCreamSandwichOnce something comes out in writing, we like to check back later to see what happeed and review the latest reports.  For a very brief time there was a possibility that the original Samsung Galaxy S line of smartphones including the Samsung Fascinate, Vibrant, Epic 4G and Capativate could be updated but then Samsung renegged.

We went into the wayback machine and discovered that Samsung in December, reported that the Samsung Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note would be getting updates in Q1 of this year which ends in March.  Is Samsung keeping to its promise?

The platform update for GALAXY S II and GALAXY Note will start in the first quarter 2012, and other GALAXY devices will soon follow.

The ICS-upgradable devices are the GALAXY S II, GALAXY S II LTE, GALAXY Note, GALAXY R, GALAXY Tab 10.1, GALAXY Tab 8.9, GALAXY Tab 7.7, and GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus.

Recent leaks suggested that an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) will be released on March 1, via the the Samsung Kies app for the Samsung Galaxy Note and Samsung Galaxy S II.  However, not everyone will get the update immeidately, it will be dependent upon carrier and country.

Americans should not get too excited.  It took  almost a year for AT&T release the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Samsung Captivate and most carriers add time to the update process for testing and skinning the operating system for their network and partners.

It has also been learned that an update on a popular smartphone can clog networks significantly.

The Samsung Galaxy S II was the best-seller after the iPhone for AT&T and Sprint in the fall as well as the top seller at T-Mobile.

Samsung in 2011 was the top smartphone maker, selling one million smartphones more than iPhones.  We can expect many more innovations this year.  The Samsung Galaxy S II was the named the top best smartphone of 2011 by numerous reviewers.

The Samsung Galaxy Note was released earlier this month and promoted as the America's next top model smarpthone. The best price we could find was  $249.99 from Amazon Wireless for the Samsung Galaxy Note, the tablet/phone.

Updates are frustrating for our readers becauset there are continual leaks about them happening and way too many technical hoops to jump through to get the upgrade ready for carriers and anxious customers.  It seems like there is endless waiting for updates.  Then a newer model smartphone comes out that blows the previous model out of the ball park.

Wherefore art thou who me thinks be too literal?

O ROMEO, ROMEO, WHEREFORE ART THOU ROMEO?

Although we use "wherefore," if at all, as a synonym for "why," Juliet uses the word in a more limited sense. By "wherefore?" Juliet means "for what purpose?" If she had merely asked "Why art thou Romeo?" she wouldn't be distinguishing the two major meanings of "why"—"from what cause" (in the past) and "for what purpose" (in the future). "Wherefore" clearly emphasizes the latter sense, which is why "whys and wherefores" are different things.
