HTC has taken the top spot in the US market for smartphones reported Canalys, today while Samsung was named the number one smartphone vendor in the world. At the two-anniversary of the launch of the first Droid, Android has the highest market share in the United States.
HTC shipped 5.7 million smartphones in the United States under its own brand which is a quarter of the market, as well as an estimated 70,000 units under the T-Mobile brand smartphones.
" HTC offers some of the most compelling and differentiated products found on the platform today." said Chris Jones Canalys vice president. Popular HTC models included the HTC EVO 3D, HTC Sensation 4G, HTC myTouch 4G Slide, Droid Incredible by HTC, HTC ThunderBolt, HTC Inspire and EVO 4G.
Android holds nearly 70% of the smartphone platform share in the United States, compared with 57% worldwide.
