otorola has posted a schedule for Android updates for Moto's Android and Droidsmartphones available in the US.

Since Motorola has added-on its own features, it usually takes a little longer for users to get the full upgrade. Their website says "We know you value having the latest and greatest technology on your devices. We are working very closely with Google and our carrier partners to bring you the most optimized experience on each of our smartphones powered by Android.."

Here's the list of devices, and the expected updates:

Motorola Droid X - Android 2.2 Froyo update to start in "late summer" as regarded a early September from other sources.

Motorola Droid - Android 2.2 update "currently rolling out in phases."

Motorola Cliq and Cliq XT - Android 2.1 updates "planned for late Q3/early Q4"

Motorola Backflip - Android 2.1 sometime in the next month.

Motorola Devour - no plans for an Android 2.1 update.

FroYo  Android 2.2 is faster than previous versions of Android (faster than iPad too) and has close to twenty improvements that include supporting Adobe Flash 10.1, MS offers multiple e-mail account support, camera improvements, a better browser, a re-designed calendar, Bluetooth voice dialing and ability to listen to music and view visual voicemail at the same time.  A major improvement is the ability to store apps on the microSD card, allowing for more space for apps. There is a planned streaming music service too.
