Android Top OS, iPhone, BlackBerry Curve, HTC EVO 4G & Droid X Top Smartphones

TopphonesNPD.JPGNPD has released figures from Mobile Phone Data.  NPD's Mobile Phone Track tracks the sell-through of mobile phones through an online panel and three million registered members.

The top smartphone is the iPhone 4 followed by the iPhone 3GS, BlackBerry Curve, HTC EVO 4G, Motorola Droid X, LG Ally, Droid Incredible by HTC, Droid 2 and BlackBerry Bold.  Many of the top picks also appeared in Wireless and Mobile News' Top Ten Best Coolest Smartphones Review of Reviews.

The top operating systems for smartphones are Android, Apple iOS and RIM BlackBerry OS:

  • Top makers are Apple, RIM and HTC, followed by Motorola, Samsung, and LG. 
  • The Average Sales Price of a smartphone is $157 compared to $148 six months ago.
  • Smartphones were 46% of sales volume ending November 2010.
  • Features include Bluetooth, GPS, Removable memory, Full HTML, and Camera.
  • 47% have a 3-inch screen or larger.
  • 50% have a touchscreen.
  • 44% have Wi-Fi.
