TS2R: Nexus 4 Deals, BlackBerry PlayBook, No BB 2nd Tier, iOS Update & Galaxy Super Bowl

Too Short to Report Wireless NewsToday there was some news that was too short to report about Nexus 4 deals, BlackBerry carrier options, iOS 6.1 adoption and Samsung "Next Big Thing Big Game" plans.

  • BlackBerry Playbook tablets will be updated to BlackBerry 10.
  • Wirefly is offering the Nexus 4 for $149.99 for new and upgrading customers at $100 off the retail price.
  • Second tier carriers are not expect to offer new BlackBerry 10 smartphones or have announced plans to do so.  Cricket Wireless, U.S. Cellular and C Spire would not comment to Phil Goldstein at FierceWireless.
  • MetroPCS launched the LG Spirit LTE smartphone fro $199.
  • iPhone and iPad owners really like to update their iOS.  iOS  6.1 has an adoption rate of 22%, three days after it launch, on track to be the fastest adoption rate, ever.
  • The Samsung Galaxy Super Bowl ad is teased in video below, starring Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen, and Bob Odenkirk. The joke is that you can't say the name of game. You have to say something other than Super Bowl like "El Plato Supreme." In another video Samsung picks on BlackBerry so that you can use Samsung Galaxy Note II or S3 to share.
